According to a Gallup & Gilani Pakistan National Survey conducted in the year 1996 (20 years ago) respondents were asked “Do you agree with the statement that only capable people get admission into educational institutions?” In response to this question, 28% said that they agreed with the statement.
Comparative Picture: The question was asked again in 2016 to enable a concrete comparison. In 2016, 37% said they agreed with the statement. It is worth noting that the figure rose to a high of 44% in the mid 2000’s (2003).
The findings are available since 1996 periodically and the graph below shows how the public opinion has fluctuated over the past 20 years.
