2006-2015: Gender gap in registered medical workforce reduced significantly. 12% increase in the proportion of female medical doctors in Punjab: Gallup Big Data Analytics Team

According to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) statistics reported in statistical pocket book, in 2006, out of 50,302 doctors registered with PMDC in Punjab, 63% were male doctors (31,700) and 49% were female doctors (18,602).

In 2015, out of 62,839 doctors registered with PMDC, 51% were male doctors (32,150) and 49% were female doctors (30,689). Over a period of 9 years, the percentages have nearly split evenly. The proportion of female MBBS doctors has significantly increased by 12%, thus balancing the previous gender tilt towards the males.
