71% Pakistanis opine that Eid should be celebrated on one day across the country; 1 in 2 in KPK believe it should be celebrated on different days.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 71% Pakistanis opine that Eid should be celebrated on one day across the country; 1 in 2 in KPK believe it should be celebrated on different days.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “For the past few years, Eid has been celebrated on different dates in Pakistan. In your opinion, should Eid be celebrated all over the country on the same day or not?” In response to this question, 71% said that Eid should be celebrated across Pakistan on same day, while 28% said that Eid can be celebrated on different dates in the country. 1% did not know or did not wish to respond.

Provincial Breakdown:

In Punjab, 73% said it should be celebrated on the same day and 27% opined that Eid should be celebrated on different dates. In Sindh, 78% said it should be celebrated on the same day and 22% opined that Eid should be celebrated on different dates. In Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, 40% said it should be celebrated on the same day, 51% opined that Eid should be celebrated on different dates, while 9% did not wish to respond. In Balochistan, a sweeping majority of 96% said Eid should be celebrated on the same day. 4% opined it should be celebrated on different dates.
