A dominant majority (83%) of Pakistanis are satisfied with Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir in the international forums.

Gallup Pakistan is releasing this press release in relation to the Kashmir Issue gaining momentum with the Prime Minister’s speech in the UN and recent spike in tensions between India and Pakistan.

Satisfied with Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir? 83% are satisfied

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked the following question, “Pakistani government, in wake of the recent human rights violation in Kashmir has decided to take the Kashmir issue to international forums such as the UN. Kindly please tell, how satisfied are you with Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir issue?” In response, 52% said that they are very satisfied, 31% said they are somewhat satisfied, 11% said that they are somewhat dissatisfied, and 5% said that they are very dissatisfied. 1% did not know or did not wish to respond.

The nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was further asked the following question, “Some people think the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is not completely supporting the cause of Kashmiris and he should do more, while the others think that he is doing a good job. What is your opinion?” In response, 50% said that the Prime Minister is completely supporting the Kashmir cause and he is doing a good job, 34% said that he is somewhat supporting the Kashmir cause (i.e. he is doing a fair job), 10% said that he is not supporting the Kashmir cause (i.e. he is doing a bad job), while 5% said that he is not at all supporting the Kashmir cause i.e. he is doing a very bad job. 1% did not know or did not wish to respond.
