According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 49% of Pakistanis have heard or read about the company Axact selling fake degrees while 51% have not heard or read about this.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “Recently, an American newspaper has revealed that Pakistani software company Axact was selling fake online degrees and diplomas. Have you heard or read about this?” In response to this question, 49% of respondents said they have heard or read about the company Axact selling fake degrees while 51% have not heard or read about this.
Respondents were further asked, “Do you think that the Pakistani Government should charge the owners of Axact and other responsible individuals with fraud and punish them?” In response to this question, 81% respondents said Yes and 19% said No.
Respondents were also asked, “Some people believe that the company Axact’s conflict is only a conflict of individuals related to media because Axact was going to start a new channel, while others do not believe this is a conflict limited to the media persons. Please tell us what is your personal opinion?” In response to this question, 58% respondents said it is a conflict between media persons, 39% said it is not a conflict between media persons and 3% did not respond.
