53 % Pakistanis believe it was right to make Bilawal Bhutto the head of PPP
In the immediate aftermath of Benazir Bhutto’s tragic assassination and the ensuing violence that engulfed the country, Gallup Pakistan conducted nationwide surveys whereby people’s perceptions on the circumstances of Bhutto’s death, PPP’s immediate future and the role of public leaders in handling this national crisis were evaluated. The polls, conducted in two rounds (one immediately after Bhutto’s death and one a week later) on a sample of over 1300 nationwide respondents, revealed that more than half of them think it was right to choose Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as PPP’s new head. In response to another question on the role of political leaders, 62 % respondents believe Nawaz Sharif’s role in handling this national tragedy was appreciable. This was considerably higher compared to the evaluation received by other political leaders.
