Dominant majority of Pakistanis (81%) believe that parents’ choice is more important in deciding a daughter’s marriage.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, dominant majority of Pakistanis (81%) believe that parents’ choice is more important in deciding a daughter’s marriage.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “In your opinion, whose choice should be given more importance while deciding the marriage of a girl?” In response to this question, 81% said that parents’ choice should be given more importance while deciding a girl’s marriage, while 19% said girl’s own choice should be preferred.
