Dominant majority of Pakistanis (92%) claim that the recent increase in electricity tariff would affect their financial condition considerably (a lot or somewhat), 95% of PPP voters, 89% of PML-N voters and 90% of PTI voters have similar claims.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, Dominant majority of Pakistanis (92%) claim that the recent increase in electricity tariff would affect their financial condition considerably (A lot or somewhat), 95% of PPP voters, 89% of PML-N voters and 90% of PTI voters have similar claims.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “Recently, government has increased per unit price of electricity, how this would affect your financial condition?” In response to this question, 60% said a lot, 32% said somewhat and 8% said not at all.

Break down by voting intention shows, amongst PPP voters 78% said it would affect them a lot, 17% said somewhat, 4% said a not at all 1% did not know or respond to the question.

Amongst PML-N voters, 59% said it would affect them a lot, 30% said somewhat, 10% said not at all while 1% did not know or respond to the question.

Amongst PTI voters 53% said it would affect them a lot, 37% said it has somewhat affected them, 9% said not at all while 1% did not know or respond to the question.
