Entrepreneurial Culture In Pakistan: No Problem to Start A Small Business But Little Facilitation Thereafter

Gilani Research Foundation and Gallup Pakistan recently participated in a Global Poll coordinated by BBC World, GLOBESCAN and PIPA on the Entrepreneurial Culture of different nations; the results show that while 63% Pakistanis think it is hard for them to start a new business, the Global Average is 70% which indicates that Pakistanis feel starting a small business does not have many hurdles. On the other hand, however, only 38% Pakistanis think innovative business ideas are valued in the country.

In a survey, a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the country were asked the following question: “Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: In this country, it is hard for people like me to start their own business?” As many as sixty three percent (63%) respondents agreed with the statement while 23% disagreed with it and 14% did not respond.
