Foreign support: An overwhelming majority of Pakistanis expect support from China (82%), Saudi Arabia (80%) and Turkey (66%) if war breaks out between India and Pakistan, less do from Iran (51%), Afghanistan (39%) and Bangladesh (34%).

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan on the issue of India-Pakistan relations post Pulwama Attack (full report available at http://gallup.com.pk/pakistani-opinion-remains-calm-and-unprovoked-during-threat-of-war-with-india/), an overwhelming majority of Pakistanis expect support from China (82%), Saudi Arabia (80%) and Turkey (66%) if war breaks out between India and Pakistan, less do from Iran (51%), Afghanistan (39%) and Bangladesh (34%).

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “If Pakistan and India are involved in war, then in your opinion which of the following countries will support, oppose or remain indifferent to Pakistan?” In response to this question, 82% said that China will support Pakistan, 80% said Saudi Arabia will support Pakistan, 66% had faith in Turkey, 51% expect support from Iran, 39% expect it from Afghanistan, 34% do so from Bangladesh, 26% from Japan, 24% from Russia, 22% each from America and Britain and 21% from Australia.
