Global Peace Index – 2012

The WIN-Gallup International „peace index‟ which measures popular perceptions about prospects for peace is based on interviews with more than 50,000 men and women selected from 59 countries across the globe in five continents. The survey also provides trend data since 1977. The global survey conducted finds a rather somber mood in the rich countries of the world. In only 1 among the 30 upper-end (richer) countries, the Peace Index is positive (those expecting greater peace outnumber those expecting less). In contrast the figure is positive in 17 out of 29 bottom-end (poorer) countries included in the survey. They expect peace conditions to improve.
