According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, a majority of Pakistanis (83%) who live in a house that they own claim they did not take any formal or informal loans to buy it.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces, who live in a house that they own, was asked, “Did you take any formal loans from the bank or informal loans from friends or family to buy the house that you are living in?” In response, 83% said that they did not, and 15% said that they did. Only 2% said that they did not know or wish to respond.
