According to the Pakistan Economic Survey 2018-19 analyzed by Gallup Pakistan, in 2018, the average fee doctor’s charged for consultation was 179 rupees, with the highest rate (267 rupees) in Peshawar and the lowest (100 rupees) in Gujranwala. Of the three metropolitans, Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi: Islamabad had the highest rate (225 rupees) and Lahore had the lowest (119 rupees).
This average rate increased by 24 rupees from the previous year’s rate. Given the current economic situation in Pakistan, with inflation on the rise and poor GDP growth, it comes as no surprise that the cost of health care has increased. However, the survey findings indicate that smaller cities, such as Gujranwala, were affected by these conditions more than larger cities like Rawalpindi.
