On 10th August, Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani, Chairman Gallup Pakistan, held a session with the second batch of Gallup Pakistan’s summer interns on how Gallup conducts its surveys in Pakistan. The session highlighted the pivotal components of a survey and elucidated on the sampling method. Dr. Gillani explained how in order to get a representative sample of the population; the country is broken down into small neighborhoods which are then chosen randomly. The chosen sample is then weighted to get a chosen sample as close as to the actual demographic breakdowns of the country. Furthermore he discussed China’s current trade with different countries. Dr. Gilani’s session was very informative as it gave the interns a look into the workings of conducting a survey and the technicalities that may come about. The interns benefited from learning the steps in carrying out successful surveys.
