Majority Pakistanis (65%) believe loud speakers are used moderately in mosques, a quarter (24%) complains against too frequent use.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, majority Pakistanis (65%) believe loud speakers are used moderately in mosques, a quarter (24%) complains against too frequent use.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “In your opinion, how frequently are loud speakers used in mosques?” In response to this question, 65% said moderately, 17% said too frequently, 7% said to an uncomfortable extent and 11% did not know or did not wish to respond.

Rural Urban Breakdown

In rural areas, 69% said moderately, 15% said too frequently, 6% said to an uncomfortable extent and 10% did not know or did not wish to respond. In urban areas, 58% said moderately, 20% said too frequently, 10% said to an uncomfortable extent and 12% did not know or did not wish to respond.

Comparing the two regions, the results show that loud speakers are used more frequently in urban areas than in rural areas.
