MILITARY RULE: strong support is shown for non political civilian government for two to three years


A snap poll conducted by Gallup Pakistan in different parts of the country on the evening of October 13, shows that approximately 75% approved the action taken by the military. But only one third of those sampled favoured direct military rule, the remaining two thirds supported civilian alternatives. From within civilian choices approximately 75% favoured a government comprising of non political reputable experts; the support for returning government to Muslim League leaders including Nawaz Sharif is less than 10% and the support for forming a national government of respectable politicians of political parties is around 15%.
