Over a period of five years, 4 in 5 Pakistanis continue to opine that graduation should be the minimum educational qualification for politicians to contest elections.

According to a Gallup & Gilani Pakistan National Survey conducted in the year 2013 (5 years ago) respondents in Pakistan were asked “Some people think that graduation should be the minimum educational qualification for politicians to contest elections, while others disagree. What is your opinion?” In response, 76% said graduation should be a requirement, 21% said graduation should not be a requirement and 3% did not give a response.

Comparative Picture: The question was asked again in 2018 to enable a concrete comparison. In 2018, 80% said graduation should be a requirement, 16% said graduation should not be a requirement and 4% did not give a response.

This press release has been made as part of the Gallup Pakistan History Project which aims to release historical empirical polling data to wider audiences. The objective is to sustain and encourage empirical decision making in Pakistan.
