Pakistanis divided over forcible migration of Indians and Sikhs from Pakistan in 1947.

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 34% Pakistanis say they would have opposed the forcible migration of Hindus and Sikhs from an area that comes under present Pakistan in1947; 32% would have supported it.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, Imagine that you are a mature adult in 1947. Suppose that your residence was in such an area that comes under present Pakistan and where Hindus and Sikhs also lived. Would you support or oppose the forcible migration of Hindus and Sikhs to India? 32% Pakistanis said they would support the forcible migration of Hindus and Sikh in their area if it came under present day Pakistan, while 34% said they would oppose it and 34% remained neutral. 1% respondents did not respond.
