According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, public opinion split over government’s decision to suspend TV transmissions during the operation against Tehreek -e- Labaik protesters. 55% support, 45% oppose.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Last week, after the Faizabad operation, several protest demonstrations were carried out in other cities against the operation. The government suspended all TV channels and social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Keeping in mind the sensitivity of the ongoing situations, some people believe that the government’s decision to shut down TV channels and social media sites was right, others believe that the government’s decision to close TV channels and social media sites was wrong. What is your opinion about it?” In response to this question, 55% said it was right, 45% said it was wrong.
