Religious figures: Around 4 in 10 (39%) of Pakistanis feel close to a religious personality in the area in which they live (somewhat/very/extremely close).

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, around 4 in 10 (39%) of Pakistanis feel close to a religious personality in the area in which they live (somewhat/very/extremely close).

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was shown a picture card displaying the overlap of two circles in varying degrees and asked, “Look at the picture card, and while thinking about a religious personality in the area you live in (such as a local imam, guru or priest), please select the image that is most reflective of how close you feel to them?” In response to this question, 12% chose not close at all, 18% chose not close, 12% chose somewhat not close, 17% chose neither close nor distant, 20% said somewhat close, 14% said very close, 5% said extremely close, while 2% did not know or did not wish to respond.
