1 in 3 Pakistanis do not think revoking the constitution is treason while another 12% do not have any opinion in this regard

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 36% Pakistanis do not think revoking the constitution is treason while another 12% do not have any opinion in this regard.

A representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Some people are of the opinion that revoking the constitution is treason, while others say that it is not treason. What is your opinion on this?In response, 52% agreed saying they revoking the constitution is treason, 36% believed that revoking the constitution is not treason and 12% said they do not know/did not wish to respond.

Urban/Rural Breakdown: A relatively higher proportion of rural residents believe that revoking the constitution is treason

Out of the total urban respondents, 48% believed that revoking the constitution is treason compared to a higher 54% of rural residents. While 43% urban residents believed it is not treason, 33% rural residents believed the same.

Party-wise breakdown:

Among PPP supporters, 56% believe that revoking the constitution is treason compared to a lower 46% of PML-N supporters and 47% PTI supporters that believe the same. 40% PPP supporters claim that revoking the constitution is not treason compared to 46% PTI supporters and a significantly lower 29% PML-N supporters that believe revoking the constitution is not treason.
