37% Pakistanis report either being laid off from their jobs or pay cuts amid the Coronavirus crisis. 17% report no change in their income

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 37% Pakistanis report either being laid off from their jobs or pay cuts amid the Coronavirus crisis. 17% report no change in their income.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked the following question, “How has the COVID-19 situation impacted your income? (Salaried individuals)” In response to this question, 17% Pakistanis reported no change, 4% say they wee asked to take paid leave, 7% claim they were asked to take unpaid leave, 18% report taking salary cuts, 19% wee laid off and 34% say this question is not applicable to them.
