Microeconomic Impacts of Public Transit – Evidence from Lahore, Pakistan


Undertaken by Dr. Hadia Majid, Dr. Ammar A. Malik and Dr. Kate Vyborny, the study aimed to investigate how urban public transit investments affected travel decisions, labor markets, firm activity, land prices and urban form & density.

Key findings:

  • Impact of greater accessibility –ten minute decrease in public transport travel time to center
  • Built density appears to have increased around treated stations
  • Real estate prices increased in high density areas
