According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, an overwhelming majority of 80% Pakistanis said that they had heard or read about the Mina tragedy; 86% of those who had heard about it said that they felt extremely sad upon hearing about the incident.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Have you heard or read anything about the Mina (Makkah Mukarma) tragedy in which more than 110 Muslims lost their lives?” In response to this question, 80% said yes while 19% said no. 1% did not respond.
Respondents were further asked, “If yes then, please tell how did you feel about this incident?” In response to this question, an overwhelming majority of 86% said that they felt extremely sad, 9% said that they felt sad to some extent while 2% said that they did not feel sad at all. 3% did not respond.
